Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
Design and Technology Welcome
![]() |
Welcome to the Design and Technology home on the KCACTF national website. This year promises to be exciting for student, faculty, and staff designers, technicians, and stage managers. We have made great progress at solidifying all areas within Design and Technology, including new and improved Stage Management Guidelines. I hope that your many endeavors in theatre have been great experiences for you during the academic year and that you are eager to share your enthusiasm. As you may know, the National Festival is held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, DC each April. Separate state and regional festivals are held January through February. While your festival is not until the winter, it certainly is not too early to begin planning for the design and technology exhibits! Please check the KCACTF home page for specific information regarding when and where your region’s festival will be held. In addition to a number of regional opportunities available to you, I would also like to call your attention to the national awards and fellowships. The guidelines for all of these may be found on the national website at www.kcactf.org. This same information may also be found elsewhere on the many regional websites: KCACTF Marvin Sims Design Fellowships These are just some of the items that you will want to be thinking about and preparing for as you draw closer to your regional festival. Make sure that you check the deadline dates for all entries on the regional level. Regional awards will qualify the student or faculty/staff member for participation in the national festival in Washington, DC. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions. I will be happy to answer any and all. If I do not know the answer I will find out (or make one up) for you! David C. (“Kip”) Shawger, Jr. |
