Welcome to KCACTF Design & Technology for Region VII.  The home of the Design Tech Management Expo (DTM)! The DTM Expo gives you an opportunity to formally gather and present your design materials and sharpen your design presentational skills in a safe and positive learning environment. This event is to provide you with a venue to see, hear, share and learn about design for the theatre. You will get to see other works from student designers form regional schools and learn new ways to approach design and presentation.  

You must have completed the design in the Calendar Year (January to December) prior to the festival to enter.

 YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO PARTICIPATE.

How do you enter?

We do not have a selection or nomination process that informs students that they may submit her/his work to the DTM Expo.  Any student may enter any of the categories listed below.   First you must register for the festival - then you will be redirected to the Event Entry form.  If you have any questions contact the Design & Technology Chair.

Description of the Presentation:

The response sessions are an informal discussion about your work.  Once you display your design, the respondents will preview your entry.  Then at your appointed time your will give a 1-2 minute introduction in front of your design (see Tips) and then the respondents will give you feedback and ask questions.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend all the responses.  The decisions will be announced at the award ceremony Friday night.

KCACTF National Level:

This level is for formalized designs that have been realized and adjudicated by a respondent.  Categories in this level include:

Scenery, Costumes & Lighting sponsored by Barbizon Lighting Company

Hair& Make-up sponsored by Alcone

Sound  & Stage Management (click to see more details of the SM category)

Regional Levels: (sponsored by NWDC)

Level 2  is for formalized designs that have been realized and NOT adjudicated by a respondent.   Categories in this level include:

Scenery, Costumes, Lighting, Sound & Hair& Make-up

Level 1  is for class room projects and designs that have NOT been realized.   Categories in this level include:

Scenery, Costumes, Lighting, Sound & Hair& Make-up

Theatre Crafts & Technologies  is for class room projects, theatre crafts, props, etc that do not fit in the other categories.  Examples include:

Technical direction, properties, costume crafts, scene painting, special effects

DTM Expo Displays

  • Display area is typically 3' wide by 4' tall with table space for binders, models etc.
  • Display area and surface varies each year.  Be prepared to adjust.
  • Bring your own fasteners (pins, screws, tape, etc.) We will have some available for emergencies.
  • Any display that exceeded the given space will be disqualified.
