DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (F.A.Q.'s)

ATTENTION!: The design MUST have been completed in the calendar year before the current festival. (January-December) Designs in progress are not eligible and you will be disqualified if discovered at the festival.

You must have been a student in pursuit of a degree at the time of the design.

"Can I enter my design if I'm not going to be at the festival?"

The short answer is "No". The goal is to provide students with professional feedback to their work, not to just give away awards. If you have an extenuating circumstance you may plead your case to the Design & Technology Chair. Decisions will be made on a case by case basis.

"I will be opening the show just after the festival. Can I still enter my design?"

No. The design must have been completed during the calendar year (January-December) prior to the festival.

"Will there be dress forms available for my display?"

No. You must provide everything you need to put up your display. We will have emergency pins, tape, etc.

"What if I'm involved with one of the participating shows? "

Let the Design & Technology Chair or Vice-Chair know ASAP. We will arrange your response on a day/time that will not conflict.

"I need to plug in my display. Is there going to be power available?"

Yes. Let us know and we will place you as close to an outlet as possible. Note: you must provide your own extension cord, power strip, etc.

"I didn't sign up before the deadline. Can I still participate?"

There is no guarantee. We will try to make space for all of those who wish to come and participate. But, those who registered before the deadline will be assured a space for their design. IF there are dropouts or extra space we will add people at a first come, first serve basis.

"Is my design display secure?"

Yes. We lock the doors every evening and we post an attendant during the day to be sure that nothing leaves that shouldn't.

"When can I take down my display?"

The Friday of festival after 12noon and before 4pm. If you need to leave before that, you can have a representative remove it at the normal time, or contact the Design & Technology Chair or Vice-Chair to make arrangements.
